The Departure
Help to set off on your own
The guidance has succeeded once it is no longer needed.
This guidance is currently not offered in English. The information on this page remains available in English; personal guidance can currently be booked only in an enabled language.
You want to walk a Camino, but you're not yet sure you want to take the first steps alone. The Departure accompanies you through the first days of your Camino — not to carry the way for you, but so that you can continue it independently afterwards.
Who is The Departure for?
The Departure is for people who want to walk a Camino but feel uncertainty or open questions before starting. That can mean, for example:
First Camino
Your first Camino is coming up, and you don't want to begin it alone.
Uncertainty before the start
You feel uncertain about setting off on your own.
Respect for the first stages
The first days on the way still feel uncertain.
Open questions
Questions about gear, accommodation or daily planning are still open.
Experienced guidance
You want to walk the first days with experienced guidance.
Independent afterwards
Afterwards, you want to continue on your own.
The Departure doesn't require a particular level of fitness and is not a guided tour.
How your Camino begins
The start is Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, the planned destination Puente la Reina — up to five days of personal guidance on the first stages of the Camino Francés. The actual route depends on pace, situation and progress. The Pyrenees stage can be split if needed, and a rest day can be part of the maximum five days.
If Puente la Reina is reached earlier, the guidance ends there. If the destination is not reached within the five days, the guidance ends after the fifth day, wherever you happen to be.
What we look at together
During the first days, this includes:
Pace & stages
Finding your own pace and realistically judging daily stages.
Gear & accommodation
Checking your gear in daily use and understanding accommodation options.
Support along the way
Food, water, orientation and apps.
Breaks & body
Breaks, recovery, and listening to your own body.
Flexibility
Being able to change plans, and finding help when it's needed.
Contacts & boundaries
Contacts on the Camino, and recognising and holding your own boundaries.
There is no fixed curriculum. The Camino itself helps decide what matters right now.
What PLAN-0 offers, and what it doesn't
With The Departure, PLAN-0 sells the personal guidance — not the trip.
Included
- A personal introductory conversation before booking.
- A preparation questionnaire.
- 90 minutes of individual preparation via Zoom.
- Up to five days of personal 1:1 guidance.
- Sven's own necessary expenses during the guidance.
- Seven days of practical WhatsApp support afterwards.
Not included
- Travel to and from the start/end point.
- Accommodation.
- Meals.
- Personal expenses.
- Your own transport costs.
Each participant chooses, organises, books and pays for these themselves. The Departure is not an organised trip, a tour or a travel package — PLAN-0 does not organise or sell travel. Sven can show you how to find suitable options.
Process
- Request a free introductory conversation, 30 minutes.
- In the conversation, we clarify whether The Departure fits, and discuss a concrete timeframe.
- Contract offer with a description of services, total price, terms and booking conditions, and withdrawal information.
- After binding acceptance and payment: a preparation questionnaire.
- 90 minutes of personal preparation via Zoom.
- Up to five days of in-person guidance on the way. Ends on arrival in Puente la Reina or at the latest at the end of day 5.
- Afterwards, seven days of practical, organisational support via WhatsApp. Not a 24/7 or emergency service.
My role
I am a companion, not a teacher.
I know the Camino from many thousands of kilometres of my own experience. That experience can help make sense of situations, answer questions, and build confidence in dealing with the way. But you decide about your own Camino.
